WITTWER, Darrell A., age 85

Died: Friday, May 31st, 2024

Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at Chapel Heights United Methodist Church (300 E. Hamilton Avenue, Eau Claire) with Pastor Jean Waldron officiating

Visitation: 10:00-10:45 a.m. on Saturday at church

Interment: Lakeview Cemetery, Eau Claire, Wisconsin

 

Darrell A. Wittwer, age 85, of Eau Claire, died on Friday, May 31, 2024 at Mayo Clinic Health System - Eau Claire.

Darrell was born on September 20, 1938 to the late Alfred and Iva (Sather) Wittwer in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. He attended and graduated from Eau Claire High School. On August 27, 1960, Darrell was united in marriage to Lois A. Welker at Olivet Church in Eau Claire. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Army and National Guard.

Darrell worked as an optician with Benson Optical and then Eau Claire Optical until his retirement in 2000. He loved to spend time outdoors hunting, fishing, and riding snowmobiles with the Pleasant Valley Rough Riders. His true love was spending time with family and friends at their lake home on Island Lake.

He is survived by his daughter, Carrie (Larry) Simmons of Eleva; son, Brad (Monica) Wittwer of Chippewa Falls; grandchildren, Leah Wittwer and Brooke Wittwer (fiancé Lucas Kallenbach), Oat Wongvanichjitt and Yasuho Morishita; great grandchildren, Brielle Deutschlander, Gracyn Wittwer, and Macilyn Wittwer; brothers, Robert (Sonja) Wittwer and Dale Wittwer; brothers-in-law, James (Jeanene) Welker and Clinton (Nyla) Welker; many nieces, nephews, and other family members.

Darrell was preceded in death by his wife, Lois; parents; and sister-in-law, Joyce (Kurt) Kaspar.

The family would like to thank the friends of Birdlawn Road and the staff at Cambridge Senior Living for all their support, care and kindness.
