Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at Trinity Lutheran Church (1314 E. Lexington Blvd, Eau Claire).

Visitation: from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Evergreen Funeral Home (off Golf Road one block east of Hwy 93) and also one hour prior to service at church

Interment: Lakeview Cemetery, Eau Claire, Wisconsin

Deyon Ziehme, age 94, of Eau Claire, died peacefully on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at Dove South in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. 

Earsel Deyon Bauer was born August 12, 1930 to the late John and Carmen (Belknap) Bauer in Sand Creek Township, Dunn County, Wisconsin. She graduated from Chetek HS in 1947. After graduating at age 16, she enrolled at the Eau Claire Vocational school. She was hired in March 1948 to be the school's main office attendance clerk where she worked for 6 years. In 1954, she chose to stay at home and raise her two children. In 1967, she began part time secretarial work for Armour Food Company, where she remained for 20 years.

On October 14, 1950 Deyon married Lawrence August Ziehme at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Sand Creek, Wisconsin. She fondly remembered the story of his brothers driving the layered wedding cake to the church and it almost sliding off the seat. They were married for 64 years before Larry's passing in June of 2015.  

She played piano by ear and entertained family as recently as August with her playing abilities. Family was very important to her, and she always knew whose birthday was coming next. She eagerly designed handmade cards, sometimes filled with stickers, coins, gum, knock-knock jokes and stamps, which were a delight to receive.

She enjoyed collecting Precious Moments figurines, doing counted cross stitch, and keeping photo albums up to date with names and dates. Trinity Lutheran was Deyon's church home since 1959 where she was involved with Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She will be remembered for her sweet smile, generosity, positive personality, love of laughter, and unwavering faith.  

She is survived by daughter, Christine (David) Gessner of Eau Claire; son, Steven (Nancy) Ziehme of Arlington, Texas; grandchildren, Kathryn (Cory) Reynolds, Amanda (Chandler) Drake, Mark Gessner, and Amber (Brad) Barabas; great grandchildren, Aramis, Eowyn, Lachlan and Perrin Reynolds, Zoey and Maizie Drake, and Braelynn, Zailey and Adelaide Barabas; brother-in-law, Ted Carlson; precious nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, and great grands, who were so loyal in visiting and keeping in touch with her over the years.

Deyon was preceded in death by husband, Lawrence; parents; brothers, Mervin, Norman and Gordon Bauer; sister, Norma Dean-Carlson; brothers-in-law, Raymond (Ev), Lyle (Ardelle), and Dale (Audrey) Ziehme; and sister-in-law, Irene (Chet) Fritz.
